(its one of those things that is not said anywhere). In hollow form you cannot summon or get invaded. Lastly one observation if you never played DS1: In human form, you can summon help, and get invaded by attackers. This is NOT a spoiler proble, in fact it makes the game better). Messages on the ground can be placed by both players and the game developers, so you cant trust all of them (and the vocabulary is kinda limited, so sometimes you need to treat messages a bit like a riddle to understand what players are trying to tell you. They improve the quality of Dark Souls 1 by a lotģ.

Dont google anything until you finish the game once (This is because the spoilers in the game kinda kill some of the atmosphere).Ģ. If you DO go for DS1, I have three advices I think would be very good to follow to make your experience as good as possible:ġ. You can see that DS1 is still being played after so many years, in some cases more often than DS2. Over all, I would suggest to start with DS1 for two main reasons:ītw, here are the current stats for DS1 and DS2: The DS2 engine has a lot of problems with HIt boxes (knowing if you or your enemy should hit or not) and it does get really frustrating when you teleport so that the enemy can hit you). The colors in DS2 are, in my opinion, terrible (they just have such a mono-thematic color palette in areas that it all looks the same, at least to me). I still play it (there are probably only 5 games that I still can play after such a long time). I have played this game for over 700 hours. The story is more interesting in DS1, probably because it was the first one (thou the story is very obscure, if you invest time in investigating it, its actually quite nice). The art world fits better thematically creating an insanely good atmosphere in DS1, in DS2 I only noticed it in 1 area (no DLC taking in consideration). The controls are easier to understand (in DS2 many controls are really wanky, in fact feels less responsive). The world is better implemented in the game (it really makes more sense than DS2) The reason why I think DS1 is better than DS2: It requires a bit of a strange mindset to enjoy (death is kinda part of the learning process, at start it is hard to accept it). The difficulty is higher than in DS2, and it is easy to be frustrated at the start (in fact I only started liking the game the third time I played it). It is a fairly easy process, and once done it solves 95% of the problems you may have (in fact, it then becomes by my standard a better port to PC than DS2). If you try to play without it, you will HATE this game. You MUST use DSFix (its a program that basically fixed DS1, since it was NEVER properly ported to PC). I will give you my opinion, however please understand that it is heavily biased towards DS1.
